Paris Sandwich

113 Mott St. between Hester and Canal

This unique sandwich joint truly lives up to its claim as having “the finest euro-asian sandwich in New York.”  (At least in the small realm of Chinatown) Their giant kitchen prepares all the ingredients fresh and grilled to perfection. Even the baguettes are freshly made in their hearth fired oven.

My favorite is their Paris Special Sandwich ($3.75) which has a couple of different Vietnamese cold cuts, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lettuce. Yum!

Another extremely popular item are their Green Tea waffles which are ingeniously cooled by the window while fanning its yummy smell into the street.  At the bottom line price of $1, I often hop in and pick one up for a midday snack.  Toppings are an additional 50 cents.  I usually go with the condensed milk topping and my husband adds peanut butter.  If you like the small pancake balls (15 or 20 for $1) from the street vendors, you’ll definitely be a fan.
